Thefts of mobility scooters have been witnessed in the UK, it has been reported.

As a result, a warning has been issued to owners of such mobility aids calling on them to be vigilant, ensure their vehicles are secure and consider fitting alarms.

The Harwich and Manningtree Standard quoted a local firm as urging people to look out for thieves who disable mobility scooters by cutting electronics under saddles and return at a later time in order to steal them.

Keith Taylor explained to the news source that one of his customers had experienced this crime and her vehicle had driven erratically as a result, although it had not been fully disabled.

A recent report in the Skegness Standard revealed that a local community in Chapel St Leonards rallied around a disabled man whose mobility scooter was stolen from outside his home by raising money and donations to provide him with transport.ADNFCR-2649-ID-800719125-ADNFCR
