Workers in rural areas can explore the perks of fuel insurance

Wednesday, 23 March 2011

UK workers who live in rural areas have been told that taking out insurance on heating fuel can provide long-term lifestyle benefits.

According to Hastings Direct, households that rely on kerosene and heating oil can make overall savings by installing security measures to protect their supplies.

This is because the number of fuel thefts in rural parts of the UK have spiralled in the past few months due to the high value of oil.

Employees looking to get money off their overall annual fuel expenditure should look for deals on insurance in order to protect them against theft.

Head of home insurance at Hastings Direct Shaun Law said the recent spate of crimes has led many organisations to offer sound guidance on protecting properties from thieves.

"There has been lots of excellent practical advice for homeowners wishing to protect their oil tanks everything from installing security lighting to locking the valve," he remarked.

Today (March 21st 2011), NFU Mutual revealed that the number of claims made for stolen fuel spiralled by 264 per cent in January 2011.
